SILK SCARF DESIGN BY CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN
As we know the current world is in deep crisis. While Lebanon experiences many difficulties, we should not forget that Swiss industry and craftmanship also face existential challenges. This silk scarf is designed by children in Lebanon and produced in Switzerland. Printed in one of the last Swiss silk printing companies in Glarus and hand-rolled in Appenzell.
The production and sales of the scarf not only support the creative education of children but also a dying industry in Switzerland.
We are producing a limited edition of 300 scarves in 3 batches – please be patient as they are handmade:
- First 35 scarves arrive by end of August 2021
- 115 scarves by end of September 2021
- 150 scarves by end of October 2021
The price for a scarf is CHF 300. Usually 25% of sales would go to production in Switzerland. However, thanks to Janine Wachsmann Architekten we are able to cover the production cost. Therefore, 100% of your donation will go to the creative development of children.
- Size: approx. 70 x 200 cm
- Fabric: 100% crepe georgette silk
- Cost: CHF 300
Thank you very much for your interest in the Mourjjan4Children silk scarf.
We have been literally overwhelmed with requests, which of course makes us very happy, because it means that we can successfully continue the creative programme for the children in Lebanon.
Unfortunately, at the moment we cannot guarantee any further orders, because we first have to get an overview of the existing orders.
The edition of the silk scarf is limited to 300 pieces, produced in 3 batches by hand. We will process the requests in the order of receipt and as soon as possible.
Please send us an e-mail so that we can contact you as soon as scarves are still available.
Thank you for your understanding!
Mourjjan4Children is a creative education programme for children who have experienced trauma in their early lives.
While traditional education is vital, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn how to self-regulate emotional experiences, gain cross-cultural social skills and learn how to tap into their innate creative nature.
The programme offers children a safe space to step out of their ‘usual’ environment and develop a deeper understanding of who they are, what is important to them and how they wish to make decisions that will affect their future.
The children’s learning experience builds on the production of a silk scarf. Designed by children for children, the scarf is used to raise awareness and funds for future creative programmes in their local community. At the same time the SWISS MADE production of the scarf supports local industry and craftmanship. One hand helps the other.
In collaboration with Swiss4Lebanon and the local NGO “Beit bil jnoub” in the South of Lebanon, Michael Muntinga and Roland Rahal bundled their creative life experiences and developed a 3-week programme for children (ages 8 to 17) with Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian backgrounds.
The curriculum is divided into 3 stages:
- Building Bridges
Experiencing similarities through beauty.
- Nurturing Roots
Exploring identity through feelings, values and qualities.
- Living with Passion
What makes my heart sing.
