SILK SCARF BY CHILDREN FOR CHILDREN
Mourjjan4Children is a creative education programme for children who have experienced trauma in their early lives. In collaboration with Association S4S and the local NGO Beit bil Jnoub in the South of Lebanon, Michael Muntinga and Roland Rahal bundled their creative life experiences and developed a 3-week programme for children (ages 8 to 17) with Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian backgrounds.
While Lebanon experiences many difficulties, we should not forget that Swiss industry and craftmanship also face existential challenges. This silk scarf is designed by children in Lebanon and produced in Switzerland. Printed in one of the last Swiss silk printing companies in Glarus and hand-rolled in Appenzell.
The production and sales of the scarf not only support the creative education of children but also a dying industry in Switzerland. 75% of sales go to the Mourjjan4Children project in the south of Lebanon and 25% of sales go to production in Switzerland.
